Graduate Advisors

The Alumni council should assign graduate advisors to work with a collegiate council. Any persons serving as graduate advisors must be financial in their chapters and councils. They must also meet all graduate advisor certification requirements for their member organization.
The Graduate Council Advisor should:
Attend NPHC Undergraduate council business meetings and sponsored public events.
Attend National NPHC Conferences.
Have a copy of your NPHC Undergraduate Council Bylaws.
Have a copy of the NPHC National Constitution & Bylaws. Understand the hierarchy of NPHC, its purpose, and standing as a strategic alliance.
Be aware of undergraduate council calendar of events, school holidays/closures, step shows, community service projects, NPHC/member organization regional/national Conventions/Conferences. SHARE the dates with chapter members, so they too can support.
Have a working relationship with the campus advisor/s, with at least quarterly contact. Ideally you would have at least telephone contact with each other monthly.
Have a current listing of current NPHC and member organization Regional Directors, Graduate Chapter Presidents and Undergraduate Chapter Advisors including name, addresses, all contact information (i.e. home, business, fax phone numbers, and email addresses).
Have a copy of the Student Handbook, which is published annually by the University for Students and Student Organizations.
Be familiar with University Rules & Regulations regarding student clubs, groups, and Greek Letter Organizations. Be aware of Student governing bodies, i.e.. Associated students, Greek Life Councils, Multigreek Council, and Campus Interfaternity Government Councils.
Be familiar with the benefits of being a registered or recognized student organization on campus. (Office space, reduced or free facility rentals, use of university owned vehicles, documents duplicating, printing, email, telephone and fax access, mailboxes, event/activity funding and bank accounts. Etc.).
Be familiar with the chain of command for violation reporting at the University and within NPHC.
Regionally you may need to assist Campus Advisors with the differences of NPHC organizations as compared to Campus Independents (Asian, Latin, Pacific Islander, and Social/Business Fraternities/Sororities) National Interfraternity Conference (NIC or IFC) and National Panhellenic Conference (NPC).
