Collegiate Leadership Summit

On college campuses nationwide, membership in the nine historically black Greek-letter organizations is constantly sought after.  Interest meetings are held, the application process is discussed and the packages are turned in.  The fortunate are selected to continue, receiving instructions about the official process.  After the initiation ceremony, the tears, and the probate, what is the commitment of members for long term development and growth not only within the members of the NPHC community but the work of the Councils as well?  There is a need for leadership development in the National Pan-Hellenic Council to go beyond just how to run and meeting.  We must address the longitudinal development programs for that will address leadership and Council concerns, but also allow a conversation on the issues that must be address for our collective future growth.

 

Life Support: Saving the Brother/Sister Hood

Learning Objectives:

    • Participants will recognize the similarities between the mission, vision and values of all NPHC organizations
    • Participants will identify contemporary challenges to NPHC organizations on college campuses
    • Participants will identify inappropriate actions that contradict the values associated with NPHC organizations
    • Participants will identify barriers to effective programs, initiatives and practices
    • Participants will discuss the origins of certain destructive behaviors concerning NPHC groups
    • Participants will synthesize common NPHC values into potential impactful programs and initiatives on their campuses
    • Participants will discuss and develop creative ways to meet current challenges for NPHC organizations on college campuses

     

    The scope of the day will be focused on training, with concurrent sessions in the morning and after lunch.  The times of sessions run from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

    Advisors Institute

    How do advisors and staff work with NPHC Greeks? What are the best ways to encourage collaboration and scholastic excellence, and advocacy on campus?The Advisor’s Institute is designed to educate Greek advisors, alumni members and Association staff on the rich history of NPHC organizations.  Through this workshop advisors will learn policies and procedures needed to advise, mentor and coach collegiate members. The Institute also seeks to network, explore and dialogue on issues that face advisors of these organizations. Small groups will developed solutions based on the topics discussed. 

    The scope of the day will be focused on training, with concurrent sessions in the morning and after lunch.  The times of sessions run from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
